The Place: a fashion boutique in the heart of Madrid with a long tradition of comfort
The Boutique Dioc is a small family retail business, selling apparel and fashion accessories. The shop is located on the ground floor of a typical traditional building in central Madrid.
When the parents of the current owner first opened the shop in 1985, they knew that the indoor temperature would have a significant impact on the clients’ shopping experience. Heaters were installed for the winter, as well as fans for the summer. However, they soon realized they needed a more robust solution, especially in Madrid where summers can be very hot. In 1987, a made-in-Japan Hitachi wall-mounted air conditioner was installed. It delivered powerful cooling and heating for the next 30+ years.

Thirty-three years later, the aging Hitachi mini-split was due to be renewed.
The Solution: a new Hitachi air conditioner upgrades the air conditioning experience and reduces the environmental impact
To replace the old Hitachi unit, a new Inverter Takai air conditioner was selected.
It provides better energy efficiency and lower carbon footprint:
- High energy efficiency, to minimize the shop’s annual operating costs, with energy savings up to 41%
- More climate friendly R32 refrigerant in lieu of outdated R22 refrigerant
In addition, the Takai mini-split has had a positive impact on the shop’s operations:
- FrostWash self-cleaning technology reduce the need for maintenance and preserves the performance over the years to come by maintaining good air flow through the unit.
- Low-noise operation as low as 22dB(A) - quieter than a library.
- Convenient Hitachi app enables the owner to control the AC from anywhere at anytime and optimize energy savings.
