VIC Home Heating & Cooling Upgrades Program

The HHCU program provides up to $1700 in total rebates towards the cost of replacing your existing system with an energy-efficient reverse-cycle air conditioner.

About the HHCU program

Reverse-cycle air conditioners are energy efficient and provide households with thermal comfort throughout the year by keeping homes warm in winter and cool in summer.

The Home Air Conditioning Upgrades Program will be delivered through a base rebate of $1,000 provided towards the cost of purchasing and installing a high-efficiency heating and cooling system, with a limit of one rebate per household. Households can receive an additional $200 if they need to cap their old gas heater, or $500 for households who need to upgrade their switchboard.

The objective of the Home Heating and Cooling Upgrades Program is to look at the best ways to deliver heating and cooling upgrades to low-income and vulnerable households.

The program is being delivered by Solar Victoria, a portfolio entity within the Department of Environment, Water, Land and Planning. Solar Victoria is also responsible for the delivery of the VIC Government’s Solar Homes and Solar for Business Programs - the most ambitious and transformative renewable energy programs in Australia.
