Following to the success of FrostWash technology for indoor unit’s self-cleaning, an original variation was developed: FrostWash for outdoor unit. It helps maintain the energy efficiency levels of your air conditioning system and prevents your energy bill to increase over the years due to coil’s clogging.

How does FrostWashTM for outdoor unit work?
- Step 1: FrostWash™ traps the dust and dirt that lands on the heat exchanger by freezing it, thanks to the humidity naturally present in the ambient air
- Step 2: The frost is then thawed.
- Step 3: As the frost melts, the dirt captured in the frost detaches from the coil’s surface. Your coil is now clean.
Dirty coil in your outdoor unit impacts your AC’s power consumption
The outdoor unit’s heat exchange coil serves to exhaust the heat that was absorbed inside your room, by letting the outside air flow through it. It is a key component to ensure the smooth absorption and release of heat from the inside to the outside. Unfortunately, over time, dirt tends to accumulate, and mold grows between the small fins of the coil. This ‘dirt layer’ directly impacts the airflow capacity of your outdoor unit, and therefore, make it harder to release the heat to the outside air. The dirt results in your system needing to ‘work harder’ to maintain the heat exchange, or in other terms, to consume more energy.
FrostWash preserves your system’s energy efficiency, year after year
By using FrostWash for outdoor units regularly, the airflow capacity can be maintained and limits the drop of energy efficiency as the years go by. It also contributes to preserving the noise levels of the AC outdoor unit during cooling/heating operation over the years, as clogged coil may result in more noisy compressor operation.

FrostWash for outdoor units was patented in Japan and first launched in there in 2020.

FrostWash for outdoor unit is now available with Hitachi air conditioners Hong-Kong and China and in Oceania.*
