Fan Coil Unit (FCU HVAC)

A fan coil unit (FCU HVAC) is a small terminal unit that combines a fan with a heat exchanger - to generate either heating or cooling for a space.

Also known as IDUs (Indoor Units) they maybe connected to an Outdoor Unit (ODU) in a split system, or may be part of a VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) system.

A fan coil unit (FCU) may be used in a residential, commercial or industrial environment to cool or heat a space. It may be based a refrigerant-based unit (using refrigerant to generate heat or cold on a heat exchanging and blowing air over it) or it may integrate a hot or cold water loop and blow air over that.

Fan coil units can come in many shapes and sizes including Floor type, Wall type, Ceiling type, Cassette (also a type of ceiling unit) and Ducted (also known as Ceiling Concealed).
