Air Conditioners - Myths & Facts

We all use air conditioners at our homes and offices and we love spending our time in air-conditioned spaces. But while we do so there’s always someone who comes in and tells us something or the other about the air conditioners that we end up believing. Those are the air conditioning myths.

We all use air conditioners in our homes and offices and we love spending our time in air-conditioned spaces. But while we do so there’s always someone who comes in and tells us something or the other about the air conditioners that we end up believing. Those are the air conditioning myths. We need to understand that not everything that we believe is true. In this blog, we’ll explain some of the widely believed  AC myths and also let you know the actual logic behind those air conditioning myths.

Myth #1:

You will fall sick after prolonged exposure to the air conditioner.

Fact:

Though it isn't recommended to expose yourself to chilly temperatures for longer durations, it won't necessarily make you fall sick. What can be making you sick all the while can be the dust and molds present in your spaces and can be avoided by cleaning your vents and air filters on a regular basis

There isn’t any direct study that shows that air conditioning can make you sick but if you have any underlying issues such as blood pressure or related diseases, you may avoid sitting in air-conditioned rooms. Hitachi air conditioners take utmost care of your health as they are built with the intention of keeping you healthy and comfortable.

Myth #2:

You will get better results with bigger air conditioners.

Fact:

The fact is that the air conditioner whose capacity is too big for your home or office won't run for long because of a simple mechanism. The compressor of your air conditioner will be forced to turn itself on and off in quick intervals making it wear out faster than usual hence shortening its life.

Oversized air conditioners usually don't run for a long time because they provide the cooling very quickly and then shut off hence not serving the purpose Contrarily, properly sized air conditioners run longer, so if you want your air conditioner to dehumidify your home as well as cool it make sure that you get a properly sized air conditioner.

Choose the right-sized Hitachi air conditioner for your spaces and stay in comfort, always.

Myth #3:

An air conditioner will cause you a summer cold.

Fact:

We need to understand that the summer cold is caused by a virus and not by a specific temperature. Your exposure to the virus, bacteria and other infecting elements are responsible for making you sick and not the temperature of your home.

According to research, there are over 62 million annual occurrences of the common cold along with 20 million school days lost annually in the United States Of America according to the National Center for Health Statistics and there are hundreds of reasons for the same.

Hitachi’s smart air conditioners know when you need the cool air and when you don't and that's why people having Hitachi air conditioners at home are healthy.

Myth #4:

Using fans along with an air conditioner will keep your room cooler.

Fact:

We must understand the fact that the function of the fan is to move the air in the room and it has nothing to do with the temperature of the room as it doesn't have any such machinery installed. Our air conditioners provide the perfect cooling while saving on your electricity bills hence you don’t need to use any other alternatives.

Myth #5:

Your room will cool faster if you turn down the AC temperature :

Here's to disappoint you a little more, if you are also doing the practice of keeping your air conditioner off while you are away and then suddenly setting it on the lower temperature, you are just wasting your resources and nothing else. When you turn on an AC after coming back home and set it directly to 16 degrees hoping that it'll magically cool your room, you are just forcing it to work harder without getting any actual benefits.

Fact:

The fact is that when you turn it on, the cooling remains the same. You need to understand the phenomenon which is - in most of air conditioning systems, the airflow cools to a temperature that is already set in it by default, and when you turn it on, it doesn't directly reach the desired temperature but takes a while to reach there. Hence, do not trick yourself and be a wise consumer of the air conditioning system.

You can choose to replace your existing air conditioning systems with Hitachi air conditioners for uninterrupted comfort.

These were some of the myths that we were forced to believe as a child and even as grown-ups. Next time someone gives you a lesson about these myths, make them understand that they are just air conditioning myths and lack any logic.
