Ciudad Jardin residence | Hitachi air-to-water heat pump project in Zaragoza, Spain

Air-to-water

The place: An efficient and sustainable residence.

An urban complex comprising more than 350 individual houses, with one or two floors each, equipped with a small garden, surrounded by green areas, and just minutes away from the center of Zaragoza. In this context, what appears to be a historic and traditional neighborhood seamlessly blends with more modern and functional homes, where comfort and efficiency take precedence above all else. That is precisely what the owners of this single-family home in Ciudad Jardín have captured with their project.

For the retrofit of their old heating system, the services of the aerothermal installation company IRTESC S.L was in charge. They conducted a study of the climatic conditions of the residence, leading to the selection of the optimal alternative, which involved replacing radiators with an underfloor heating aerothermal system. This system caters to heating, cooling, and domestic hot water needs, all managed by the same equipment: Hitachi Yutaki S air-to-water split heat pump & combi tank, with an average temperature of 12 °C, that goes around 18 °C to 6 °C during cold weather and an average temperature of 26 °C that goes around 32 °C to 19 °C during summer.

"What we like the most is comfort. Previously, our heating and hot water were provided by gas, and we used radiators. At that time, being close to the radiator felt very comfortable, but moving around resulted in noticeable changes in temperature"

The solution: The Yutaki S 3 Combi heat pump system allows complete climate control and substantial savings

The requirements of the project:

  1. Versatile System: The new heat pump system was required to address the heating, cooling, and domestic hot water needs of a two-story single-family home. The goal was to achieve perfect climate control in the property, eliminating the need for less efficient methods.
  2. Compact DHW Indoor Unit: The indoor unit is designed compactly to accommodate a domestic hot water accumulator. This design conceals functional elements, creating harmony with the interior of the home.
  3. Minimal Installation Space: To maximize living space, the installation required a system that occupies minimal space. Additionally, the aim was to have no visible elements, creating an almost invisible heating, cooling, and hot water system.

With the Hitachi Yutaki S Air to Water Split Heat Pump & Combi Tank, the following benefits have been achieved for the residence:

  • Energy Savings: With the implementation of this installation, the total annual costs for heating and domestic hot water do not exceed €570. Specifically, focusing on heating and domestic hot water costs, the Yutaki S system keeps expenses below €520. This is in contrast to traditional heating systems like electricity, which can cost around €2,600 annually.
  • High Comfort: The aerothermal technology provides a high level of comfort by combining heating, cooling, and domestic hot water in a minimal installation space.
  • Convenient control: The system offers easy and intuitive control through a large LCD screen, allowing programming of the timer for both heating (cooling and heating) and domestic hot water. It also enables the activation of the energy-saving mode, among other available functions.
  • Minimal Installation Space: Utilizing underfloor cooling, the Yutaki S Combi system minimizes the installation space. It provides a complete and comfortable solution with minimal visible elements, eliminating the need for a separate compact domestic hot water accumulator by incorporating it within the indoor unit.

"We would recommend this system; we have a high level of satisfaction both with the final outcome and with the installer"
