Functions can be locked to prevent mis-use by occupants, while an Eco mode can also be implemented, which saves energy by locking the temperature setting so that occupants can only control fan speed and on/off operation. Administrators can also see when an air filter needs changing on a connected unit, and review error codes in the event of a failure, making it easier to communicate with a HVAC professional about likely causes.
