Hydro Free (High Temperature)

VRF High Temperature Domestic Hot Water Unit

This module produces heating and domestic hot water, similar to an oil or gas boiler, by transforming renewable energy from the outside air into heat which is called Air-to-water heat pumps.

A Comprehensive Range: Hydro Free Hot Water Module (Hot Temperature)

Our VRF indoor unit lineup now encompasses the complete range of "Hydro Free" hot water modules. These modules efficiently generate both space heating and domestic hot water, akin to traditional oil or gas boilers. They achieve this by harnessing renewable energy from the outdoor air and converting it into heat.

Air-to-water heat pumps are the driving force behind this process, extracting free energy from the air. This energy proves sufficient to warm homes or villas to a comfortable temperature, even on the chilliest winter days. Remarkably, for each kilowatt of electricity utilized to power the heat pump, it can yield over 5 kilowatts of heating energy. This translates to savings of up to 80% on heating costs when compared to conventional fossil fuel boilers.

The Hitachi VRF Hot Water Module is particularly advantageous for those considering a 3-pipe VRF system (simultaneous cooling and heating type). It efficiently harnesses excess wasted heat, further enhancing its value. Employing cutting-edge technology, it not only delivers exceptional space heating performance but also provides domestic hot water with remarkable efficiency.

Extensive Temperature Range (Up to 80℃)

The Hydro Free hot water module stands as an independent indoor unit capable of producing hot water at temperatures of up to 80℃. This achievement represents the highest temperature attainable in the domestic heating market through the utilization of renewable energy sources.

The Hydro Free High-Temperature model employs an intelligent cascade system with two compressors, leveraging two refrigerant cycles (R-410A and R-134a) to optimize seasonal efficiency. The second refrigerant cycle operates solely as a booster when exceptionally high water temperatures are required. For the majority of the time, only one cycle is active. This versatile design renders it ideal for a wide range of applications, including existing properties, particularly older installations that may demand elevated water temperatures to maintain comfortable indoor conditions, as well as new constructions.

Designed to replace traditional boilers, it provides consistent heating and sanitary hot water year-round without the need for boiler backup.

Best option indoor unit for 3-pipe VRF

In summer, when utilizing a Heat Pump or Heat Recovery type VRF system without the Hydro Free unit, all indoor units operate in cooling mode. Consequently, the VRF outdoor unit expends heat energy unnecessarily into the atmosphere. However, with the inclusion of the Hydro Free unit, this wasted heat energy, typically released into the surroundings, is redirected to heat water, offering an efficient solution for your domestic hot water needs.

1) Operations: space heating

Hitachi's VRF indoor units equipped with the Hydro Free hot water module are preconfigured for efficient space heating. These systems offer various heating installation configurations, ensuring a comfortable indoor environment throughout the year, even in the most frigid climates:

  • Mono-valent System: This design sizes the air-to-water heat pump to fulfill 100% of the heating requirements, even on the coldest days of the year.

  • Mono-energy System: The most popular choice, this configuration sizes the air-to-water heat pump to meet 80% of the heating needs during the coldest periods. An auxiliary electric heater (supplied in the field) supplements the additional heating required on colder days. This option strikes an ideal balance between installation costs and long-term energy consumption, a proven favorite in colder regions like Sweden and Norway. Alternating Bi-valent System: Designed for installations with existing boiler-based heating systems, this setup enables the boiler to alternate with the air-to-water heat pump. It's particularly useful when it's necessary to elevate the water temperature supplied to the circuit to higher levels, such as 80℃.

  • These diverse configuration types allow for adaptable systems tailored to meet various customer needs, accommodating a wide range of applications, from straightforward setups to comprehensive configurations like radiator heating, floor heating, or a combination of both.

2) Operations: hot water production

This is accomplished through the utilization of a dedicated domestic hot water tank, available as an accessory under the model number "DHWT-(200/300)S-3.0H2E." This specialized tank is well-suited for the production of hot water in residential settings as well as sports gyms, ensuring a reliable and energy-efficient source of hot water.

How is it used?

To make the most of the Hydro Free unit (Hot Temperature), connect the water tank accordingly. For those seeking a remote domestic hot water solution, we offer the option of installing a dedicated hot water tank unit adjacent to the indoor units, available in two capacities: 200 and 300 liters. Once connected through the water tank, your bathroom shower can be seamlessly linked, ensuring a consistent and comfortable supply of hot water tailored to your preferences.
