Gwent Properties, Thorntons Quarry | Hitachi air-to-water heat pump project at Rassau, Wales

Air-to-water

The place: Unique development of 47 new build residences.

This private development consisting of two phases of 3 bed and 4 bedroom properties with qualities and services that represent a high level of sustainability.

For this new build installation, smart homes with underfloor heating on the ground floor, radiators on the first floor, and domestic hot water controlled by a home automation system and mobile app were the services delivered. This system is used in conjunction with a Solar photovoltaic system and battery storage.

The Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) was planned to be used in conjunction with a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system to reduce the heat workload on the ASHP.

"Our experience with Hitachi to date has been great. Going into our first all-electric development, we spent months researching the air source market and Hitachi stood out from the beginning. They are now supplying the Air Source Heat Pumps for our bespoke 47 plot eco-friendly development in Ebbw Vale".

The solution: Yutaki M Heat Pump fits perfectly with the project needs, overcoming each of the requirements.

Being one of the heat pump solutions with the highest power and smallest footprint on the market, Yutaki M makes this installation an innovative project. Hitachi´s range of Yutaki air-to-water heat pumps transfer heat from the outside air to water, which is stored in a tank and distributed through radiators, underfloor heating, or fan coils.

  • High level of sustainability and future-proofing: The low consumption pump adapts its flow to the heating requirements within the residence.
  • Energy savings with Inverter technology: this technology enables the heat pump to modulate its operating capacity precisely to the heating needs in the residence. With a COP/EER – 4.39 / 2.81 , SCOP 35°C/55°C - 3.6 / 2.92 and Energy class 35°C/55°C – A++

  • Comfort, heating, cooling and Domestic Hot Water: The Yutaki M range is compatible with all types of water heat emitters: radiators, underflow heating. Allowing also to have different heating zones, with radiators upstairs and underfloor downstairs. (down to outside temperatures of -25°C, it ensures heating capacity. Up to outside temperatures of 46°C, it ensures cooling capacity).

  • Communication gateway provided to manage the Hitachi heat pump. This gateway makes managing smart home applications easier.
  • Advanced controller for professionals: A mesmerizing display featuring operational information, explanations of error codes, and the guidance of a Wizard assistant. The essence of sustainable homes lies in providing convenience and simplicity.

These features on efficiency make Yutaki M the perfect choice to meet the customer´s needs.

"The units are incredibly quiet, easy to install and very user friendly.”
